SURPRISE VISIT TO TÜBİTAK

Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar and Hakan Fidan, Head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), visited the TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) in Gebze.

Minister Akar and MİT Director Fidan examined the projects and R&D activities of TÜBİTAK, the related organization of the ministry, at its campus in Gebze, Kocaeli.

During the visit hosted by Minister Varank, TÜBİTAK President Hasan Mandal and the directors of the institutes gave information about the work and projects carried out.

Within the scope of the visit, the Antenna Test and Research Center (ATAM), Semiconductor Technologies Laboratory (YİTAL), Integrated Circuit Design and Training Laboratory (TÜTEL), Crypto Systems Laboratory and TÜBİTAK MAM's High Temperature Center of Excellence, which is owned by a small number of countries in the world, of TÜBİTAK Informatics and Information Security Advanced Technologies Research Center (BİLGEM) were briefed about their activities.

NATIONAL LASER SYSTEM TESTED

The ministers and Fidan inspected the national laser system developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and Turkey's first Laser Test Tunnel located on the campus.

Akar and Fidan, together with Minister Varank, also tested the national mobile laser defense system ARMOL. During the test, a moving steel target 500 meters away was successfully destroyed with the laser weapon integrated into the armored vehicle.

The national laser weapon ARMOL successfully passed the acceptance tests last September and was entitled to enter the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces.

It was also learned that the delegation examined the MÜREN-PREVEZE project, a National Production Integrated Combat Management System-PreVeze Class Application developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM with national and domestic resources.
