"Empregne Activated Carbon Technology Specialized for CBRN Filters" developed by TÜBİTAK MAM is the production technology of empregne activated carbon used in the production of CBRN personal protective masks by using it in filters and gas masks suitable for transforming land, sea and air vehicles and collective protection shelters into collective living centers that protect them from CBRN weapons.
With the use of domestic raw materials in the said technology, domestic impregnated activated carbon will be produced and the production of impregnated activated carbon, the import of which is subject to special permits, will be ensured. With this technology, all kinds of CBRN protective filters will be produced domestically by producing granular products, and dependence on foreign countries in terms of CBRN protection technology will be eliminated. The impregnated activated carbon will have the capacity to hold chemical weapons by both chemical and physical adsorption methods and will meet the relevant military criteria. The same product can also be used in the treatment of some unwanted toxic chemical wastes in industry.
Application Areas
- In CBRN protective ventilation filters for land (armored vehicles, CBRN reconnaissance vehicles, mobile field laboratories, etc.), air (helicopter and fighter jet filters), sea (all types of frigates, assault boats and warships) and collective protection shelters (portable: container, tent, etc., fixed: building) for the Turkish Armed Forces,
- CBRN protective filters in CBRN protective filters of VIP vehicles and collective protection shelters for dignitaries,
- In the ventilation filters of civilian collective protection shelters,
- In ventilation filters for transforming metro stations and large shopping malls into CBRN protection centers in case of necessity,
- CBRN personal protective gas masks,
- Especially for the treatment of flue gases emitting H2S and ammonia,
- HF holding,
- Adsorption of toxic industrial chemicals and toxic industrial materials.

Transfer Model
The technology in question will be transferred in accordance with the procedure stipulated in the Regulation on the Management of TÜBİTAK Movables and Immovables, for twenty years by simple licensing method, open to all bidders who meet the conditions stipulated by our Institution, and for a license fee stipulated depending on the number of sales.
