The space-qualified solar panel developed by TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute Photovoltaic Technologies Center has successfully completed ground level verification, qualification and functionality tests in accordance with international standards.

The space-qualified solar panel developed will take place as the main load on our domestic and national satellite, which is planned to be launched in 2022, and will be the first space-qualified solar panel with a history developed in our country in this field. The space-qualified solar panel, whose production has been completed in this context, has a power generation capacity of 100 watts under challenging space conditions. With the know-how and production infrastructure gained in our project titled Space Qualified Solar Panel Development, solar panel design and production can be provided to meet the power needs of satellites with high power requirements.

Until today, all space-qualified solar panels that can meet the energy needs of domestic satellites developed in our country were supplied from abroad. As TÜBİTAK MAM ME, with the infrastructure and trained human resources gained within the scope of sustainable development, a high value-added, strategic, competitive domestic space-qualified solar panel has been produced, and it is aimed to reduce the import dependency of our country, to prevent trade restrictions applied to imported products in military and intelligence applications, and to increase the production and export share in the relevant field.
