In order to detect Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs), 1000 portable/fixed CWAs detection devices have been developed and produced since 2002 and delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and various public institutions and organizations.

In this context, studies have been carried out on some of the ZEMs used in industry, which pose a hazard when released in large quantities into the environment, and the devices have been given the ability to detect these substances. The devices are actively used in MİLGEM 3,4; LST (Land Shipping Tank-Ship), Test and Training Ships. New types of devices are currently being developed in line with the requirements of different institutions. TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute is the only institution in Turkey that develops and produces these devices indigenously.
