Seminar on "Applications of Nuclear Technology in Agriculture, Medicine and Nondestructive Testing and Nuclear Safety Regulations"

Dr. Erhan İlkmen, one of the researchers of TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences, gave a seminar on "Applications of Nuclear Technology in Agriculture, Medicine and Nondestructive Testing and Nuclear Safety Regulations" on June 21, 2016.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Committee for Scientific and Technological Standing Cooperation (COMSTECH), in cooperation with the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority and the International Atomic Energy Agency, organized a conference on "Application of Nuclear Radiation in Agriculture, Medicine, Non-Destructive Testing and Nuclear Regulatory Practices", the applications of nuclear radiation in the fields of agriculture, medicine and non-destructive testing, regulatory bodies and working areas on nuclear-related issues, and facilities and infrastructures where nuclear practices are carried out were visited.

In the seminar organized by the Technology Development and Management Unit of the Vice Presidency of Strategy and Technology Development, the contributions of applications of nuclear technology other than energy production (isotope production, medicine, industry, agriculture, etc.) to socioeconomic development and Pakistan's experience in nuclear security were presented to the participants based on the information and findings of the relevant workshop.
