TUBITAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) has developed flour with starch additives to prevent obesity and diabetes, the incidence of which is increasing in Turkey.
The new products "Starch Additive Diet Flour" and "Starch Additive Diabetic Flour" were introduced at Halal Expo 2017.

Defined as starch that cannot be digested in the small intestine but can be fermented in the large intestine, the product is similar to dietary fiber in terms of its health effects.
In addition to being a prebiotic, the product has a positive effect on intestinal health due to the production of butyrate and other short-chain fatty acids.
Products developed with resistant starch, whose energy is % 50 lower than starch, control the desire to eat by giving a feeling of satiety and help to keep blood sugar in balance.
Resistant starch products can be easily consumed by all consumers, not just diabetics and dieters.
