Project Inauguration Meeting Organized by our Institute

Within the scope of the "Project for Updating the European Union Integrated Environmental Approximation Strategy Document", which was initiated on 21 October 2014 with the contract signed between the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and TUBITAK Marmara Research Center, a Project Launch Meeting was held on 29 December 2014 at Holiday Inn Hotel Ankara - Kavaklıdere.

The project aims to evaluate the current realization status of the objectives and strategies, acquis harmonization and investments envisaged in the European Union Integrated Environmental Approximation Strategy Document covering the years 2007-2023, which was completed in 2006, for the period 2007-2014 and to update it for the period 2014-2023, to determine the monitoring and evaluation method for monitoring the realization status of the investments envisaged in the updated IES document, to establish a data collection and monitoring method, to determine the indicators and to establish action plans for the years regarding the investments to be made and to establish a data collection and monitoring platform that will ensure the traceability of the updated document.

The opening meeting was well attended by relevant ministries, municipalities, universities and non-governmental organizations. The meeting started with opening speeches by Prof. Dr. Abdullah ÇAVUŞOĞLU, Vice President of TÜBİTAK and Prof. Dr. Mustafa ÖZTÜRK, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. After the opening speeches, the project was introduced by Dr. Cengiz T. BAYKARA, Head of the Department of External Relations of the MoEU and Dr. Özgür DOĞAN, Project Manager from TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute. Afterwards, a discussion section was held where the views and suggestions of the participants were received on the update of NCCAP on the basis of 9 sectors: water quality, waste management, air quality, industrial pollution and risk management, climate change, noise management, chemicals management, horizontal sector and nature protection.
