The project was signed between TÜBİTAK MAM and the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on July 14, 2015 and will last 510 days. It is aimed to carry out pollution status assessments in all our seas, including the Black Sea, Marmara Sea and Straits, Mediterranean and Aegean Sea; and to ensure standardization in monitoring and implementation of monitoring strategies in order to determine the quality status of marine, coastal and transition waters.
The project spatially covers all Turkish seas and coasts including the Black Sea, Marmara Sea and Straits, Mediterranean Sea and Aegean Sea. The materials to be created within the scope of the project will be created by taking into account the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, Water Framework Directive, National Legislation, Regional and International Conventions to which Turkey is a party and the needs of the country.
With this project, it is aimed to ensure standardization in sampling, analysis methods, evaluation of analysis results and reporting for each sea, to prepare monitoring guidelines separately for the four seas, to receive trainings on monitoring requirements and to prepare a "Marine Monitoring Strategy Document" that will form the basis for legislation.
As a result of this project, monitoring guidelines will be created for our seas and documents will be created for the relevant sea in marine monitoring studies; from which points, from which matrices, how often samples will be taken, which parameters will be analyzed in these matrices, and how reporting will be done.
