The oceanographic sea expedition of the project "Assessment of Phycotoxins and Their Production Species in the Black Sea - PHYCOB", which is supported by the European Union H2020 under the research and innovation program and in which TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Environment and Cleaner Production Institute is a stakeholder, is carried out in the Romanian and Bulgarian waters of the Black Sea between 11-20 September 2021 with R/V TÜBİTAK MARMARA Research Vessel.
During the study, seawater and sediment samples are taken and research is carried out to identify the toxins produced by some phytoplankton in the ecosystem and the species that cause these toxins. Thanks to the ship's laboratory infrastructure, physicochemical parameters, nutrients and chlorophyll values are measured simultaneously with sampling, and pre-processing is carried out for vitamin, pigment and DNA studies.
