With the project contract signed between TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) and Malatya Metropolitan Municipality on August 10, 2021, the "Updating Strategic Noise Maps of Malatya Province and Creating Noise Reduction Action Plan" Project was initiated.
On September 9, Thursday, 36 representatives from Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department Head Şaban AŞICI and related municipal staff, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization Noise and Vibration Management Branch Manager Nuray HÜSMEN; TUBITAK Marmara Research Center Environment and Cleaner Production Institute Director Dr. Selma AYAZ, Project Coordinator Tuğba DOĞAN GÜZEL, Lead Researcher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nesimi ÖZKURT, Expert Researcher Samet Feyyaz HAMAMCI, other project staff and stakeholders involved in the project attended the project opening meeting.
The opening speeches of the project were made by Şaban AŞICI, Head of Environmental Protection and Control Department of Malatya Metropolitan Municipality and Dr. Selma AYAZ, Director of TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute.
Ministry of Environment and Urbanization Noise and Vibration Management Branch Manager Nuray HÜSMEN gave information about the place of noise action plans in the legal legislation and the projects carried out and emphasized the importance of implementing the studies.
Project Coordinator Tuğba DOĞAN GÜZEL made a presentation to the participants on the importance of the project, work plan, noise audit and strategic noise mapping and noise action plans.
Within the scope of the project, strategic noise maps of industrial facilities, entertainment places, highways and railways in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts within the responsibility boundaries of Malatya Metropolitan Municipality within the scope of the principles and criteria specified in the By-Law on Assessment and Management of Environmental Noise and the relevant EU directive will be prepared and action plans will be prepared to develop noise mitigation scenarios.
