A major step has been taken within the scope of Antarctic Science studies under the auspices of the Presidency and coordinated by TÜBİTAK MAM KARE. Under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, the "Regulation on the Implementation of the Protocol on Environmental Protection in Antarctica" was published in the Official Gazette dated June 13, 2020 and numbered 31154 and entered into force. The regulation, which TÜBİTAK MAM KARE also gave its opinion during its preparations, became a building block for Turkey's application for "consultant member country" status within the scope of the Antarctic Treaty.
