Efficient waste disposal and energy generation from these wastes is one of the competence areas that TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute has been working on for many years. In order to convey these competencies of the Institute and to discuss cooperation issues, TÜBİTAK MAM President Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kılıçaslan, together with the accompanying delegation, visited Muhammet Saraç, General Manager of İZAYDAŞ, the largest waste management organization in the Marmara Region.
During the visit, TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulkadir Balıkçı and İZAYDAŞ and TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute officials were also present. TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute's studies on solid waste gasification and electricity generation from organic wastes were explained.
Converting urban wastes brought about by increasing urbanization into energy and bringing them into the economy and thus preventing environmental pollution are among the strategic goals and studies of both institutions. During the meeting, it was agreed to evaluate the cooperation to be made in this regard and to improve the existing cooperation.
