On October 10, 2017, officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums visited the "TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Ship" at UDHB Tuzla Port and the "Carbon-14 Accelerated Mass Spectroscopy (AMS) Laboratory" at TÜBİTAK MAM.
The delegation headed by Deputy General Manager Melik Ayaz was accompanied by academics from Ankara University, Selçuk University and Dokuz Eylül University.
Firstly, the delegation visited TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Ship and was given general information about the ship. Then, under the chairmanship of Dr. Selma Ayaz, Director of the Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, information was given about the work being carried out by Marine and Inland Waters researchers.
During the meeting, research topics that can be carried out in cooperation with the Ministry and Universities were evaluated.
During the delegation's visit to the Carbon-14 Accelerated Mass Spectroscopy (AMS) Laboratory, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Karaman, Director of the Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences, and researchers provided detailed information about the "Age Determination Analyses" performed on the samples.
