Fikri Işık, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology, visited TÜBİTAK MAM on July 07, 2014 and received information about the activities.

Arif Ergin, TÜBİTAK Deputy Secretary General Uğur Aksoy, UME Director Dr. Mustafa Çetintaş, TÜSSİDE Director Tezer Battal, MARTEK General Director Dr. Orhan Çömlek, MAM President Advisor Prof. Dr. Ali Ata, MAM Board Member Fazıl Şenel, MAM Vice Presidents and MAM Institute Directors. Prof. Dr. Ali Ata, Advisor to the President of MAM, Fazıl Şenel, Member of the Board of Directors of MAM, Vice Presidents of MAM and Directors of MAM Institutes were present at the meeting, where the presentations of TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Earth and Marine Sciences, Institute of Food, Institute of Gene Engineering and Biotechnology, UME and TÜSSİDE were presented to the Minister.
In addition, LIDAR System Demonstration and Behind-the-Wall Imaging System Demonstration were realized at the TÜBİTAK MAM Materials Institute, and CER System Demonstration and Hydrogen Fuel Car Demonstration were realized at the Energy Institute.
The Minister received detailed information about the boron-powered vehicle, which was started to be developed entirely by Turkish engineers in 2009 with the support of BOREN at the TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute, and which has reached the completion stage, took a test drive with the vehicle and gave it full marks. The vehicle, which is completely domestically produced and powered by boron, weighs 1,100 kg and has a 20 horsepower engine. There are 4 12 volt 100 Ah batteries inside the vehicle. With 20 liters of fuel obtained from boron, the vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 90 kilometers and travel 100-150 kilometers.
The Minister left TÜBİTAK MAM with positive impressions to visit MARTEK after his laboratory visits.
