Within the framework of the Presidential Internship Mobilization TUBITAK Intern Researcher Scholarship Program, TUBITAK 1004 Program and TUBITAK 1071 Program, Interns and Scholars working at TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Materials continue their work at full speed. Students who are accepted to these programs from different departments of different universities find the opportunity to take part in the scientific activities carried out at the Institute of Materials by adapting to the intense work tempo in a short time.
Students from the departments of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering had the opportunity to be a part of the scientific activities carried out for the development of high temperature critical metallic materials, the development of piezoelectric sensor structures in flexible/rigid form, and the development and applications of biosensors built on electrochemically based MEMS platforms.
The students who continue their studies at the Institute are conducting research in various fields, especially in the following areas;
- High temperature metallic materials
- Superalloy and investment casting technologies
- Metallurgical analysis and mechanical testing capabilities
- Thermal barrier and corrosion resistant coatings (EB-PVD, CVD)
- Heat treatment
- Piezoelectric material production technology
- Electrical/Structural test capability
- Silk screen coating and polarization technology
- MEMS design and manufacturing techniques
- Fabrication and cleanroom applications of microfluidic platforms and biosensors
- Electrospin and nanofiber applications
It is aimed to continue working in different fields with new Interns and Fellows in the coming periods.
Comments from Interns and Fellows:
Ecem ANNAŞLI, Marmara University
It was a great chance for us undergraduate students to be in the STAR program during this challenging pandemic period when we were away from our schools. I am sure that what we gained in this process will continue to shed light on us throughout our lives. I would like to thank my project coordinator, my professors and the entire Critical Metallic Materials Group for everything they taught me and for all their contributions and interest.
Serra BAYRAM, Istanbul Technical University
It was a great experience to be able to participate in this project, which is very important for our country, while I was still an undergraduate student. Most of the academic knowledge I have gained throughout my education life has become concrete in this process. I am sure that this experience will make a great contribution to me in every aspect of my professional life. I would like to thank the entire Critical Metallic Materials Group for their contributions, help and smiling faces.
Furkan Ferhat BONCUK, Istanbul Technical University
As an undergraduate student, it was a unique experience to take part in the Critical Metallic Materials Group, which carries out defense industry projects, one of the most critical breakthroughs of the country. I am sure that the knowledge I gained, the people I met and every second I spent here will have a great impact on my professional life. I would like to thank my teammates, my supervisor and everyone I got to know during my fellowship.
Meral GÜLCAN, Yıldız Technical University
Being part of such an intensive and productive program during the challenging pandemic process we have been going through has contributed a lot to my education life. The R&D work we did in the field of aerospace and defense, which has a strategic importance in Turkey's future, was a good opportunity for me to shape my career. I would like to thank all the members of the Critical Metallic Materials Group who contributed to this beautiful experience.
Abdullah Buğra BOĞAZKESENLİ, Gebze Technical University
In my fellowship process, which I started in the Nanotechnology and Functional Materials Project group, which has realized and continues to produce critical steps in the development and progress of our country, it continues to offer a unique experience to use the theoretical knowledge I gained during my undergraduate and graduate education in practice. I would like to thank my esteemed professors and group members who accelerate our growth day by day by sharing their knowledge and experience with us.
Rawan GHANEM, Yeditepe University
Being given this unique opportunity to work alongside knowledgeable and experienced members of the Nanotechnological and functional materials group, I hope to elevate my academic and research knowledge in many disciplines of these areas. I also aim to gain hands-on experience when working in a variety of laboratories.
Ayşe EKİCİOĞLU, Sabancı University
It has been a great experience to return to a productive working environment after a period of separation from our colleagues and professors. With the excitement of the environment created here, I started to be more interested and motivated in the subjects I work on. I wish to discover more things together, and I would like to thank my friends and professors at 3B for all they have given me.
