Medical Biotechnology Workshop was Held

Within the scope of the declaration of 2015 as the 'UK-Turkey Science and Innovation Year' in order to increase cooperation between Turkey and the UK in the fields of science, technology and innovation, a Medical Biotechnology Workshop was organized on 17-18 February 2016.

Organized in cooperation with TÜBİTAK, TÜBİTAK MAM and the British Consulate in order to discuss areas of common interest such as medicine, biotechnology, agricultural technologies and bioengineering, the workshop started with a meeting of rectors from various universities in the UK. The opening speech was made by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Makaracı, Vice President of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM), and the research institutes within TÜBİTAK MAM were introduced and possible cooperation issues were discussed. In the continuation of the program, presentations on bilateral cooperation platforms were made by the British Consulate and TÜBİTAK, while British researchers introduced their research areas. At the end of the workshop, the Turkish and British teams identified common topics for bilateral cooperation and created summary project contents.
