The General Directorate of Maritime Affairs of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, with the vision of establishing a modern training center where theoretical and practical trainings will be provided in line with the reduction of human-induced maritime accidents, will ensure that the trainings that are currently being carried out abroad will be carried out domestically. With this study-feasibility project, it is aimed to contribute to the professional development of our seafarers on a national scale, to realize the trainings needed to increase the application capacities of seafarers and to be prepared for emergencies with trained workforce capacity.
In order to achieve this goal, 4 main objectives have been identified:
- Identification of shipboard training needs, especially training ship and virtual training ship,
- Conducting feasibility studies for the establishment of a pilot pilot model ship supported training center,
- Conducting a feasibility study for the establishment of a "Safety at Sea Training Center" consisting of "Fire Training" and "Survival at Sea Training" units,
- Realization of the feasibility study of a mobile "Maritime Education Unit" in order to ensure interest and love for maritime at a young age
Launched in December 2021 and planned to last for 12 months, the project involves experts from universities providing maritime education, stakeholders competent in feasibility studies and cost analysis, and TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center research staff.
