Dr. İbrahim Tan, Expert Researcher from TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center Environment and Clean Production Institute (ÇTÜE) Marine and Inland Waters Group, was the guest of Çevre TV on "Ecosystem Oriented Marine Monitoring and Coastal Pollution" on Wednesday, March 24 at 14:00.
During the program, information was given about TÜBİTAK MAM ÇTÜE and the Marine and Inland Waters Group. The personnel, laboratory and research vessel infrastructure of the Marine and Inland Waters Group was mentioned and information was given about the fields of study.
It was informed that monitoring programs are planned to monitor the physicochemical properties of our seas, components and indicators that will reflect the ecological status, pollution status and marine litter on a pilot scale, target species for economic fisheries and pollutant levels in them. It was emphasized that as the Marine and Inland Waters Group of TÜBİTAK MAM MTUE, they carry out and coordinate Turkey's largest Integrated Marine Monitoring Program.
It was emphasized that marine monitoring activities are continuously being developed in accordance with the ecosystem approach management objectives by making integrated monitoring and assessments in the seas spatially and temporally comprehensive, consisting of sub-monitoring programs and adding new monitoring components and methods to support them.
In addition, the pressures on the seas of our country were evaluated and information was given about the ecosystem effects caused by these pressures, and the protection of our seas and the emphasis on "Living Seas for a Healthy Future" were emphasized.
