Red Crescent President Inspected TÜBİTAK MAM's Food and Biotechnology Infrastructures

The Turkish Red Crescent delegation examined TUBITAK Marmara Research Center's research infrastructures in the fields of food technologies and biotechnology and evaluated future joint projects and cooperation opportunities between the two institutions.

The Red Crescent delegation visited TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) and examined the research infrastructures in the fields of food technologies and biotechnology. During the visit hosted by Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy, President of TÜBİTAK MAM; Vice President of Climate and Life Sciences Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgen Ercan, Biotechnology Research Group Leader Assoc. Dr. Hilal Yazıcı Malkoçoğlu and Food Technologies Research Group Leader Assoc. Dr. İbrahim Sani Özdemir also accompanied the program.

The delegation headed by Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz, President of the Turkish Red Crescent and Deputy Chairperson of the Local Governments and Disaster Policies Board of the Presidency, included Murat Solak, General Manager of Communication and Donation Management, Mustafa Günhan Nasuhbeyoğlu, General Manager of Kızılay Protürk A.Ş., Asım Hocaoğlu, General Manager of Kızılay Biomedical A.Ş., and Burak Ünver, Chief of Staff.

Within the scope of the visit, the delegation examined fermented fruit products, hazelnut processing, herbal extraction and tea processing, minimally processed foods, pomegranate and fruit juice, ready meals, seafood, starter culture and dairy products lines in the laboratories of the Turkish Food and Innovation Platform (TÜGİP). The Pharmaceutical Technologies Research Laboratory (BKTM-B) and the Medical Biotechnology Center of Excellence (Medibiyo) were then visited. The program concluded with an evaluation meeting at the TÜBİTAK MAM Presidential Office. During the meetings, joint projects and future cooperation opportunities in the fields of food safety, biotechnology and pharmaceutical technologies were discussed.
