ISKI General Directorate's Visit to R/V TÜBİTAK MAM MARMARA Research Vessel

The results of the project carried out by TÜBİTAK MAM ÇTÜE in 2015-2016 in order to monitor domestic and industrial pollution, which is a constant source of pollution and poses a danger to public health in the Bosphorus, Marmara Sea (North), Black Sea outlet and Golden Horn, were presented to the officials of İSKİ General Directorate.

Within the scope of the protocol signed between TÜBİTAK MAM and ISKI General Directorate, the 2015-2016 study results of the project "Monitoring of Water/Sediment Quality in the Sea and Estuary and Biodiversity in the Estuary" were presented to TÜBİTAK MAM Chairman Assoc. Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat MAKARACI, ISKI Assistant General Manager Metin AKBAŞ, Head of Department Rıza HÖKE, Director of ÇTÜE Dr. Selma AYAZ, Branch Manager Selim AŞÇIĞLU and other participants. Project Coordinator Dr. Vildan TÜFEKÇİ explained the work carried out within the scope of the project and discussed the results obtained and recommendations for the protection of the marine environment. In addition, it was decided to carry out additional monitoring in pollution sensitive areas in the Marmara Sea for the studies that will cover the years 2016-2017. In the course of the meeting, information on 6 projects being carried out by METUE on behalf of ISKI was presented. After the presentations, the Research Vessel was introduced to ISKI Management and a short sampling of marine studies was made.
