Speaking at the "Rehabilitation and New Technologies in Hydroelectric Power Plants: TÜBİTAK and Horizon Europe Perspective" session, Dr. Doğan Gezer, Coordinator of the Vice Presidency of Energy Technologies at TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM), drew attention to the importance of innovative approaches and international cooperation in the hydropower sector.
In his presentation, Dr. Doğan Gezer touched upon technological innovations such as "Development of Anti-Corrosion and Anti-Cavitation Coating Materials in HEPPs", "Tandem Turbines" and "Variable Speed Operation", and stated that these solutions are critical in increasing the performance and durability of power plants. He also emphasized that "Anomaly Detection" and "Flow Forecasting and Basin Optimization" increase operational efficiency in hydroelectric power plants with digitalization and artificial intelligence applications.
Drawing attention to the importance of "Fish Passage Monitoring" and environmental DNA (e-DNA) techniques within the scope of environmental sustainability, Dr. Doğan Gezer stated that these approaches contribute to ecosystem-friendly energy production. Dr. Doğan Gezer stated that these innovative solutions are being worked on within the framework of TÜBİTAK and Horizon Europe projects and that international collaborations offer important opportunities to the sector.
In addition, Dr. Doğan Gezer said that Turkey's ability to develop international cooperation and innovative technology in the field of hydroelectricity is gradually strengthening, and emphasized that the projects carried out under the leadership of TÜBİTAK form the basis of the vision of producing domestic and national solutions in the sector.
