The Climate Change Adaptation Grant Scheme (CCAGP) is co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey. "Climate Change Adaptation Grant Scheme (CCAGP)" is implemented by the Climate Change Directorate of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change (MoEUUU) and the contracting authority of the grant scheme is the Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations, Department of European Union Investments of the MoEUUU.
Within the scope of the grant program, the second series of "Climate Change Resilient Agriculture" trainings of the project "ACLIFS - Assessing the Impacts of Climate Change on Food Security and Increasing the Resilience of Rural Communities", which is carried out under the coordination of TUBITAK Marmara Research Center in partnership with Isparta University of Applied Sciences, Ege University, Istanbul University, Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul Technical University, International Directorate of Agricultural Research Institute and Fruit Research Institute, were held between 5-7 November in Eğirdir and Yalvaç districts of Isparta and Beyşehir district of Konya, respectively, under the organization of Eğirdir Fruit Research Institute.
A total of 260 people, 210 physical and 50 online, participated in the three-day trainings, which also included hybrid participation on the first day. In the event, which aimed to raise awareness of farmers about the expected impacts of climate change in their regions and to increase their awareness in terms of measures that can be taken, training presentations were made by Dr. Tuğba DOĞAN GÜZEL, Dr. Deniz SARI and Dr. Ece Gizem ÇAKMAK from TÜBİTAK MAM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mert DEDEOĞLU from Selçuk University, Prof. Dr. Levent BAŞAYİĞİT from Isparta University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hayati KÖKNAROĞLU, Prof. Dr. Hayati KÖKNAROĞLU, Prof. Dr. İsmail DEDEOĞLU from Isparta University of Applied Sciences. Prof. Dr. Sinan DEMİR, Prof. Dr. Hayati KÖKNAROĞLU, Prof. Dr. Duygu KAŞIKÇI, Assoc. Assist. Fuat KAYA and Halil İbrahim UZUN.
The face-to-face trainings benefited vegetable and fruit producers, cattle and sheep farmers, as well as agricultural engineers, experts and many mukhtars who are also farmers. In addition, thanks to the online session, provincial and district municipalities, public institutions, universities and non-governmental organizations were also able to participate in the training. At the end of the training, the participants stated that the training was very useful on topics such as climate change and the climate hazards that await them in the future, the importance and economical use of water, soil management and business planning, and emphasized that the number of similar trainings should be increased and disseminated.
The ACLIFS Project aims to determine the impacts of climate change on agriculture and animal husbandry in three selected basins (Küçük Menderes Basin and Eğirdir-Karacaören and Beyşehir Lakes Basins) including socio-economic consequences and to evaluate adaptation options.
