In December 2010, the Gezende HEPP Control Systems Renewal Project, which started with the contract signed between Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (EÜAŞ) and our institution, was successfully completed after the final acceptance on May 06, 2015.

Within the scope of the project, the design, production, testing, installation and commissioning processes of the speed governor and exciter systems at Gezende HEPP, which is located in Mersin/Mut district and has an installed capacity of 159 MW, were carried out entirely by the engineers and technicians of the Energy Institute with domestic facilities.

In November 2012, following the provisional acceptance of three units at Gezende HEPP within the framework of tests and commissioning works, the project entered the warranty period. Following the rehabilitation works, failures in the speed regulator and warning systems were eliminated and the availability of the plant was increased. With its systems renewed as a result of rehabilitation, Gezende HEPP realized its highest energy production since 1993, the year it was commissioned, with 750 million kWh in 2013, as a result of the commissioning of Ermenek HEPP located in the upper reservoir and the increase in the availability rate.
