Within the scope of the project "Identification of Sensitive Areas and Water Quality Targets on Basin Basis in Turkey", a team of 11 experts from the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, General Directorate of Water Management and General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works were trained on the creation of 1:25.000 scale surface water bodies and typologies in Geographic Information System environment in accordance with the requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive. On the first day of the training, which was organized by the Geographic Information System team of MAM Environment and Clean Production Institute between October 10-14, general information about the Guideline No. 9 of the Water Framework Directive was given by Dr. Cihangir Aydöner. On the other days, Dr. Cihangir Aydöner and Specialist Researcher Ömer Visali Sarıkaya provided information about the tools used in GIS environment and how to use these tools while determining 1:25.000 scale surface water bodies on basin basis.
With the training provided, it was ensured that the work on updating surface water bodies to be carried out within the scope of 25 basins in Turkey was carried out by the working group that received the training.
At the end of the training, Ms. Selma Ayaz, Director of MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, and Dr. Cihangir Aydöner Dr. Selma Ayaz and Dr. Cihangir Aydöner, Director of MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, presented the participants with a certificate of participation.
