"Workshop on tools and indicators for integrated assessment of Black Sea environment" within the scope of ANEMONE (Assessing the vulnerability of the Black Sea marine ecosystem to human pressures) Project was held in Istanbul on 19-20 June 2019.
The workshop was attended by ANEMONE and EMBLASplus project partners from Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Georgia and Russia, speakers from international organizations such as the Black Sea Commission (BSC), the European Commission Joint Research Centre (EC JRC), the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR), as well as experts from Spain (AZTI) and Denmark (NIVA).
The project aims to develop a joint monitoring strategy to assess the state of the Black Sea, using the most appropriate assessment criteria and indicators to be determined in cooperation between the partners. It also seeks to identify needs and improve the knowledge of relevant experts in the marine field.
General Purpose of the Workshop;
- Sharing experiences and ensuring coordinated implementation of indicators to enable a regional assessment of the Black Sea situation,
- Evaluation of the suitability of NEAT (Nested Environmental Status Assessment Tool) and CHASE (Chemical Status Assessment Tool) tools for the Black Sea marine environment.
The project is supported by the CBC Joint Operational Program Black Sea Basin 2014-2020 and is carried out by a team led by Romania (NIMRD) and composed of scientific research centers from Turkey (TÜBİTAK MAM), Bulgaria (IO-BAS) and Ukraine (Ukr-SCES) and non-governmental organizations (Mare Nostrum-Ro, TUDAV-Tr).
