The Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) organized an "External Stakeholder Opinions, Suggestions and Expectations Workshop" at its headquarters in Istanbul on Monday, October 27 as part of its strategic planning efforts. Leading stakeholder institutions were invited to the workshop, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hatice Karahan participated on behalf of TÜBİTAK.

During the meeting, the dynamics of Turkey's industry, which is densely located in and around Istanbul in particular, were discussed, and the latest situation in the context of both national and international economic developments was put on the table. During the workshop, where the opportunities and threats expected to be shaped in this framework were discussed, Karahan, on behalf of TÜBİTAK, underlined that the Turkish economy will focus on net export-led growth in the new period, and therefore policies to increase exports and reduce imports will come to the fore, while emphasizing that technology, and therefore R&D, will be the main component on both fronts.

One of the most important conclusions of the workshop was that the ISO should assume the role of an effective interface for the industry to focus on R&D activities and strengthen its cooperation with TÜBİTAK in this regard.

In addition to TÜBİTAK, the workshop was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Economy, TİM, TSE, TÜİK, Koç University, Yıldız Technical University and Istanbul Development Agency.
