The RHE-MEDiation Project officially started on June 13, 2023 with a kick-off meeting hosted by the Project Coordinator RINA. Elif Atasoy Aytış and Mehmet Dilaver, researchers from the Vice Presidency of Climate Change and Sustainability, attended the meeting on behalf of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM).
The Mediterranean Sea accounts for about % 7.5 of the world's marine biodiversity and % 15 of global maritime traffic. However, it is one of the most polluted seas in Europe. The RHE-MEDiation project aims to provide innovative, replicable solutions to reduce and remediate pollution from chemicals for the Mediterranean hotspot ecosystem.
The project will support the EU mission "Restoring our Ocean and Waters" to improve the health of the Mediterranean Sea through the different areas of expertise within the project consortium
