With the support of EÜAŞ, TÜBİTAK MAM realized the project "Flue Gas Emissions Removal with Plasma Technology at Soma A Thermal Power Plant". Within the framework of this project, a gas cleaning plant with a flow rate of 1000 m³/h was installed at the 22 MWe capacity Soma A Thermal Power Plant.

During the project, the current situation of the power plant was evaluated in detail and different process configurations were created. A comprehensive process design was realized based on the configuration deemed appropriate. Piping and instrumentation diagrams were prepared and necessary equipment was sized. After the preparation of technical specifications and procurement processes, the pilot plant was installed and assembled, commissioned and parametric experiments were carried out.

This project will provide an important infrastructure in flue gas treatment and contribute to the spread of environmentally friendly technologies in Turkey.
