TÜBİTAK MAM and DEHUKAM took an important step to strengthen cooperation in the fields of Law of the Sea, Climate Change and Polar Research.
During the visit, which took place on August 16, 2023 at TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus, Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy, President of TÜBİTAK MAM, welcomed the DEHUKAM delegation and emphasized their determination to further enhance their existing cooperation.
Following the visit, representatives of the TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute and DEHUKAM representatives came together and organized a signing ceremony as a concrete expression of cooperation. TÜBİTAK MAM President Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy and DEHUKAM Director Mustafa Başkara signed the cooperation protocol, which will bring together their unique expertise in the fields of Law of the Sea, Climate Change and Polar Research.
This cooperation protocol will cover a number of areas such as scientific research, mutual exchange of information, implementation of exchange programs of scientists and joint projects, and will encourage joint studies on the legal status of the seas, climate change research and scientific research on the polar regions. It was stated by the representatives of the two institutions that this cooperation aims to provide significant contributions to our country at the international level and to accelerate and continue the scientific and academic studies in the field. This protocol is considered a major step towards the development of a more comprehensive understanding of marine sciences and climate change both in Turkey and on a global scale.
