The first test of the "warm mix asphalt" developed in cooperation between TÜBİTAK and the General Directorate of Highways was carried out on the Ankara Ring Highway.

The first application of "warm mix asphalt" produced within the scope of the "Development of Warm Mix Asphalt Additives Production Technologies" project carried out by TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center Chemical Technology Institute and General Directorate of Highways (KGM) Research and Development Department was made.

Supported by TÜBİTAK Public Research Programs, the project, of which KGM is the client, aims to use the country's resources efficiently and bring innovation to existing technologies. With the implementation of warm asphalt in Turkey, the energy used in asphalt production will decrease by 30 percent. An average of 114 million liras will be saved annually from production costs. The aim is to reduce environmental damage with locally produced warm asphalt mix.

On September 15, 2015, the project will be completed and information about the project will be given at the Workshop to be held at TUBITAK on September 2, 2015.
