Technology
"Cellulose Derivatives Production Technology" developed by TÜBİTAK MAM is the production technology of cellulose tri- and di-acetate, which is widely used in many fields in the chemical industry and is used extensively in various fields such as food, medicine, detergent, paint and coatings, which are not produced in our country and are imported.
Cellulose di acetate and triacetate are used in industrial applications and their technical properties are determined by their acetyl value, i.e. degree of substitution (DS). Cellulose acetate produced by the acetylation reaction of natural cellulose is in the form of small flakes. It can also be obtained as granules, powder and fiber. It is a popular bio-plastic because it is cheap and convenient. Biodegradable cellulose acetate is environmentally friendly, renewable and poses no threat to health. It is very important that the cotton linter used in the production of cellulose derivatives is available in our country.
Application Areas
Cigarette filters are one of the areas where cellulose acetate is used at the highest rate, followed by textile fibers. Surface coating is estimated to be the fastest growing area in the cellulose acetate market. In recent years, cellulose acetate-butyrate and cellulose acetate propionate are also important cellulose ester groups. Production of these ester groups will also be possible in the same facility.
Advantages
- It is a natural polymer based product.
- It is biodegradable.
- It can be used in many areas.
Transfer Model
The technology in question will be transferred in accordance with the procedure stipulated in the Regulation on the Management of TÜBİTAK Movables and Immovables, for twenty years by simple licensing method, open to all bidders who meet the conditions stipulated by our Institution, and for a license fee stipulated depending on the number of sales.
