The "COAL TECHNOLOGIES WORKSHOP", organized in cooperation with TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) and Turkish Coal Enterprises Authority (TKİ), was held in Antalya between 23-25 October 2014 with the high-level participation of the relevant Public Institutions / Organizations.
The workshop was attended by 83 participants from TÜBİTAK MAM, TKİ, General Directorate of Environmental Management, Electricity Generation Co. (EÜAŞ), General Directorate of Energy Affairs, Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), General Directorate of Mining Affairs, General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA), Soma Elektrik Üretim ve Tic. A.Ş. (SEAŞ) with the participation of 83 people.
The workshop was organized by Mr. Ömer Sezgin, Deputy General Manager of TKİ. Mr. Ömer Sezgin and Mr. Bahadır Tunaboylu, President of TÜBİTAK MAM. The workshop started with opening speeches by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahadır Tunaboylu. TÜBİTAK MAM Vice President Dr. Mehmet Toptaş made a detailed presentation on the introduction of TÜBİTAK MAM and the work carried out with TKİ so far.
During the workshop, the participants will discuss; 'Outlook of Coal in Turkey', 'Evaluation of Bituminous Shale Reserves and Liquid Fuel Production', 'Coal Recovery Technologies from Slurries', 'Development of Coal Washing Plant Simulator Lave', 'Coal Preparation and Improvement Technologies for Thermal Power Plants', 'Use of Density Monitors in Lavvar Performances', 'Solution of Environmental Problems in Coal Enterprises', 'Utilization of Wastes', Presentations were made on 'Coal Beneficiation Technologies by Dry Methods', 'Ash Removal and Evaluation of Coal', 'Briquetting of Coal', 'Determination of Coal Quality by Laser Interacted Plasma Spectroscopy', 'Liquid Fuel Production Technologies from Coal', 'Methanol Production Technologies', 'Underground and Surface Gasification Technologies', 'Geophysical Applications in Coal Fields Before, During and After Operation', 'Pyrolysis Technologies'.
At the end of the Workshop, a Free Session was held under the titles of "Areas in Need of Improvement at TKİ" and "Coal Utilization and Technologies", chaired by Mr. Fazıl Şenel. A Free Session was held at the end of the Workshop, moderated by Mr. Fazıl Şenel. The workshop ended with general conclusions and closing speeches.
