The BioINSouth Forum, organized within the scope of the BioINSouth Project, of which TÜBİTAK MAM is a project partner, will be held on June 5-6, 2025 in Catania, Italy. The event, which will be hosted by the University of Catania at the Aula Magna Conference Hall, is co-financed by the Circular Biotechnology Joint Initiative (CBE JU) supported by the European Union. The forum, one of the official partner events of the EU Green Week 2025 with the theme "Circular Solutions for a Competitive EU", will focus on how to achieve a "Clean - Competitive - Circular" transformation. The forum aims to bring together representatives from the public, private sector and academia in the field of bioeconomy, particularly in Southern Europe, and to address research and innovation priorities in the bioeconomy in line with the specificities of the Southern European regions. Within the scope of the event; topics such as the future of sustainable development, bioeconomy initiatives carried out in Southern Europe, the role of regions in environmentally friendly practices and sharing project experiences will be discussed. In addition, there will be sessions for interaction between policy makers, researchers and industry representatives.
As a partner of the BioINSouth Project, TÜBİTAK MAM will contribute to the development of digital tools and methods for environmental and sustainability assessments. The focus will be on critical factors such as sustainability and economic viability, especially in terms of biomass utilization and the effectiveness of biobased processes. By validating the toolkit to be developed and sharing good practices at macro-regional level, it is aimed to create a platform that addresses all stakeholders in Turkey. The event will analyze and compare biobased processes applied in the bioeconomy sector, and provide a strategic roadmap to support regional development goals. A comprehensive assessment of the bioeconomic potential of the Southern Europe region, including Turkey, is envisaged. The program will be shaped by presentations focusing on global bioeconomy trends, sharing of successful regional practices and discussions on the capacity of the circular bioeconomy to create social and environmental benefits along with economic growth. Participants will come together in various networking sessions to strengthen sectoral collaborations.
