The Science Symposium organized by the Asian Forum for Polar Sciences (AFoPS) was held on 3-4 March 2021 on the online platform. At the meeting, which aims to increase bilateral cooperation between the participating countries, a presentation was made introducing the TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute and explaining the future plans of our country on polar research.
The Asian Forum for Polar Sciences (AFoPS) is a non-governmental organization established in 2004 to promote and facilitate cooperation among countries in the Asian region to advance polar research. The Forum consists of national polar research institutions representing China, Japan, South Korea, India, Malaysia and Thailand. In addition to Turkey, the forum also includes observers from Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Egypt, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Turkey has been participating in the meetings organized by AFoPS since 2016, closely following the polar studies of Asian countries and establishing cooperation.
