A press release was made at the TUBITAK Marmara Research Ship in Gemlik within the scope of the Gemlik Bay Water Quality Monitoring, Assessment and Imaging of Deep Sea Discharge Lines Project. At the meeting held on the ship, Dr. Selma Ayaz, Director of the Environment and Clean Production Institute of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, informed Bursa Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş about the studies to be carried out within the scope of the project. Afterwards, the delegation, including the Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and the senior management of Bursa Water and Sewerage Administration General Directorate, visited the laboratories of the ship and saw the sampling of samples from the sea and the processes performed on the samples on site. Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, who also visited the captain's cabin, was personally informed about the features of the TÜBİTAK MAM Research Ship, which is produced domestically and nationally.

With this project, seasonal water quality monitoring will be carried out at 32 points in Gemlik Bay. In addition, acoustic and optical imaging will be carried out in 5 deep sea discharge lines and sampling studies will be carried out in the streams flowing into Gemlik Bay in two-month periods. With the studies carried out in the streams, the pollution loads coming to Gemlik Bay through the streams will be determined.
