ELECTRONIC WASTE, ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES DISCUSSED
The 2nd International Special Waste Summit was hosted by Adana Metropolitan Municipality on April 19-20, 2016. The "Waste" sector, which has become an important component for the future of our country, was examined from an innovative perspective and with local and foreign speakers who are experts in their fields. During the two-day Summit, 20 speakers took part in 6 sessions.
MANY FAMOUS NAMES PARTICIPATED
This year's summit, which focused on the theme of "Electronic Waste", was attended by more than 500 guests from all segments of the sector, including Svein Tveitdal, Former Director of the United Nations (UN) Environment Program and CEO of Klima 2020, Fevzi Aytekin, former Minister of Environment, Imren Aykut, former Minister of Environment, Işılay Saygın, former Minister of Environment, Kutlu Evren, TRNC Minister of Public Works - Environment - Culture, Gurkan Kara, Undersecretary of the TRNC Ministry of Public Works - Environment - Culture, Ediz Hun, Expert Ecologist - Cinema Artist and Lecturer. At the summit, which was held with international participation, the session of former environment ministers this year was among the noteworthy elements.
FIRST SESSION: "ELECTRIC and ELECTRONIC WASTE PRACTICES IN TURKEY and THE WORLD"
In the first session moderated by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yüceer from Çukurova University, "Electrical and Electronic Waste Practices in Turkey and the World" was discussed and Volkan Pelitli, Expert Researcher from the Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, was the main speaker. In his speech, he talked about the management of electrical and electronic waste and the problems encountered, short, medium and long term solutions, open-closed system processing technologies, initial investment and operating costs. After the two-hour session, Expert Researcher Volkan Pelitli was presented a plaque of appreciation by Işılay Saygın, former Minister of State and Environment.
