TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute (ÇTÜE) is a partner of TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute (ÇTÜE), which is entitled to be supported within the scope of the European Union (EU) Horizon2020 calls "ZERO BRINE - Re-designing the value and supply chain of water and minerals: a circular economy approach for the recovery of resources from saline impaired effluent (brine) generated by process industries" project inaugural meeting was held on June 19, 2017 at Delft Technical University in the Netherlands.

The 4-year, 22-partner project aims to recover valuable substances from the concentrate stream, which is the result of membrane filtration and contains valuable minerals and salts, by using various technologies. Due to the development of membrane technology, the management of the concentrate generated has come to the forefront all over the world and studies on this subject have increased in recent years.

Within the scope of this project, which is coordinated by Delft Technical University and TÜBİTAK MAM ÇTÜE is among the partners, one of the 4 pilot plants to be established will be in Turkey and will be established by ÇTÜE. Within the scope of the project, which will be realized in cooperation with the Strategic Business Units of ÇTÜE, Water and Wastewater Management and Cleaner Production, the reusability of the membrane concentrate stream formed after the recovery of textile wastewater will be evaluated, salt recovery and impurity removal studies will be carried out. Some of the project partners will work on concentrate disposal and concentrate-to-product technology, while others will assess the impact of these discharges on the ecosystem and the environment.

While Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Baban, Dr. Selda Murathocaoğlu and Recep Partal attended the opening meeting on behalf of ÇTÜE, information about TÜBİTAK MAM and ÇTÜE was presented by the project manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Baban and the work to be done on the work packages for which they are responsible was shared with other partners.
