A TÜBİTAK delegation of Turkish scientists visited the ITER Organization on 2-3 September 2013. The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) is a research and engineering project to create an international tokamak. The aim is to create a power source that generates electricity from what is known as the plasma state of matter. The project has an international character.
Participating countries are the European Union, the Russian Federation, the United States of America, the People's Republic of China, South Korea, India and Japan. Canada was a full member of the project in the past, but withdrew from the project due to insufficient government funding. Kazakhstan has also submitted a proposal to contribute to the work, which will be discussed in the member countries.
