The eighth annual "Thermal Power Plants Workshop" was organized by TÜBİTAK MAM and EÜAŞ in Marmaris, Muğla between 12-15 October 2015.
The main theme of the workshop, which consisted of 4 days and 6 sessions in total, was determined as "Current Problems and Solutions of Fossil Fuel Power Plants".
TÜBİTAK MAM President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahadır TUNABOYLU, TÜBİTAK MAM Vice President Assoc. Dr. Murat MAKARACI, TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute Director Assoc. Dr. Abdülkadir BALIKÇI, EÜAŞ General Manager Halil ALIŞ, Deputy General Managers, Department Heads, Thermal Power Plant Operation Managers, Branch Managers, TKİ and TEİAŞ officials, as well as many university and private sector representatives attended the workshop. In addition, for the first time this year, officials from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Development also participated in the Workshop.
During the 4-day workshop, which took place with panel sessions and presentations, the topics of "National Projects", "Technological Developments in Energy Production", "Environmental Technologies and Emissions", "Coal and Water Preparation Technologies", "Electrical Control Systems" and "Occupational Health and Safety" carried out by the TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute were examined.
For the first time this year, private sector representatives also participated in the workshop, where the contributions of the private sector in domestic thermal power plant technologies were also evaluated. Problems encountered in both the public and private sectors and solutions to these problems were discussed. Steps were also taken to develop future partnerships. With these initiatives, a consensus was reached on the development of collaborations between the private sector, TÜBİTAK MAM and universities.
