The sixth edition of the "TÜRKTAY Panel on Waste Management in Turkey in All Aspects", which is traditionally organized every year and supported by the leading institutions and organizations of the waste sector in Turkey since 2010, was held on 21-22 October 2015 at Ankara Hilton Hotel.
The aim of the Panel, which consists of 8 sessions in total, is to discuss all aspects of Waste Management and Recycling, which is one of the sub-headings of the Environment Chapter negotiations within the scope of Turkey's membership to the European Union, and to contribute to the achievement of an effective waste management based on industrialization in our country. The target audience of the panel is all public institutions and organizations within the scope of waste and recycling, as well as sectors that provide industrial production and services.
Prof. Dr. Hasan Zuhuri SARIKAYA, Chairman of the TÜRKTAY Executive Board, Muhammet SARAÇ, Chairman of the Executive Board of TAYÇED, Dr. Selma AYAZ, Director of TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, Dr. H. Jülide KÖROĞLU, Principal Researcher, Bayram ANDAK, Expert Researcher from TÜBİTAK MAM Chemical Technology Institute, officials from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, Ministry of Economy and associations related to waste management as well as representatives from many universities and private sector participated in the panel.
In her opening speech at the Panel, Prof. Dr. Selma AYAZ talked about TÜBİTAK MAM's work on waste management and touched upon possible collaborations on the management of mining waste, municipal waste, industrial waste and packaging waste. Lead Researcher Dr. İpek ERZİ made a presentation on "Waste Management in the European Union and its Reflection on the Horizon 2020 Program".
Prof. Dr. H. Jülide KÖROĞLU, in her presentation on "Waste Oil Recovery Technologies and Base Oil Production", talked about the technical evaluation of recovery technologies and the importance of base oil production, stated that it is necessary to establish an effective control, monitoring and supervision system to solve the problems, and emphasized the implementation of the results of the KAMAG 1007 project carried out by the Chemical Technology Institute and completed in 2011.
Bayram Andak, in his presentation on "Disposal and Recovery of Waste Batteries", summarized the battery recovery facility established within the scope of KAMAM 1007 project, the project outputs and the work carried out.
