Within the scope of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Project (TABİP), which aims to strengthen the domestic economy and agriculture, the opening ceremony of the "Super Critical Extraction Facility for Medicinal Aromatic Plant Processing", where plant extracts and oil will be extracted, was held at TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM).

THE FIRST PLANT WITH THE LARGEST CAPACITY AND 100% DOMESTIC ENERGY

Costing 8 million TL, the first plant with the largest capacity and 100% domestic energy is located in the TÜBİTAK MAM campus on an area of 332 square meters. It is aimed to process around 250 tons of dry plants per year with a daily dry plant capacity of 700-800 KG. In addition to being the largest and most efficient facility in Turkey, this facility, which is built with zero dependence on foreign energy, has the infrastructure and capacity to process approximately 2,500 tons of products annually.

The facility will primarily process local products and in the future, it is planned to process high value-added products to be procured from both nature and the market. The seeds of apricots, tomatoes, pomegranates, grapes, etc. will also be processed with the infrastructure technology of the facility.

TÜBİTAK MAM and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality will jointly develop a project to create a data archive on the processing of Turkey's endemic plants.
