A 6-member delegation consisting of TÜBİTAK MAM President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahadır TUNABOYLU, Business Development Unit Manager Nuh YILMAZ, Energy Institute Assistant Director Osman OKUR and related expert researchers visited Uganda on 16-22 August 2015, hosted by Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST), within the scope of the project proposal on 'development of a power generation plant to generate energy from agricultural waste and geothermal resources'.
On the first day of the visit, the delegation was welcomed by Dr. Theresa SSENGOBA, President of UNCST, and the managers of the institution, and exchanged views on the relevant project topics and other project topics that could be cooperated between the two institutions. As a result of the all-day meetings, a consensus was reached on the possibility of joint projects in other energy production technologies, materials, biotechnology, food and chemistry.
On the second day of the visit, the Minister of Planning David BAHATI and the Minister of Technology Prof. Dr. Tickodri TAGBOA were visited. During the meetings, the Ministers expressed their support for the project, stating that they would present the project to Ugandan President Yoweri MUSEVENI separately and that they wanted the project to be realized very soon.
On the other three days of the visit, the sites targeted for the establishment of power generation plants within the scope of the project were visited. On the last day of the visit, a meeting was held on the sites visited and the next steps to be taken. After the meeting, it was decided to sign a cooperation agreement detailing the work packages of the projects and to send the draft project proposal file to the Islamic Development Bank.
