During the Science and Technology Week events organized at TÜBİTAK MAM, students experienced scientific concepts in practice through workshops and laboratory visits, and had the opportunity to get to know the R&D processes closely with talks by expert researchers.

TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) opened its doors to future scientists with a comprehensive program organized as part of the March 8-14 Science and Technology Week. Within the scope of the week-long activities, 300 students from 19 educational institutions ranging from kindergartens to universities had the opportunity to experience the R&D ecosystem on-site through interactive workshops, laboratory visits and interviews with expert researchers.

In the hands-on workshops held as part of the program, students experienced basic scientific concepts in person through activities such as DNA Modeling, Molecule Modeling and Wind Energy House. In parallel with the workshops, students visited infrastructures such as Materials and Process Technologies, Treatability and SMART4ENV, Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Laboratories, TÜGİP Pilot Plant, High Temperature Materials Center of Excellence and Accelerated Mass Spectrometry (AMS) Laboratory. During the expert talks organized throughout the week, Dr. Emine Aytunga Arık Kibar gave a talk titled “Food Safety: INNOFOOD and Foods of the Future”, while Dr. Yüksel Çetin gave information on “Domestic Solutions in Biotechnology”. Participants also heard from experts on climate change, marine pollution and mucilage, energy transformation in cities and solar-powered e-mobility, material technologies in defence and aerospace, energy production from waste, sensor and early warning technologies in disaster management, and the role of TÜBİTAK MAM within the scope of the 2053 Net Zero Target in the sessions held at MAM Conference Hall.

Prof. Dr. Burcu Özsoy, President of TÜBİTAK MAM; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgen Ercan, Vice President of Climate and Life Sciences; Dr. Ersin Üresin, Vice President of Materials and Process Technologies; Assoc. Dr. Abit Balın, Director of Strategy and Project Management; and Tekin Yıldırım, Director of Corporate Solutions, participated in the Science and Technology Week program. Throughout the events, students' interactions with scientific processes and R&D practices were closely examined.

Aiming to instill interest in science and technology in young generations and to promote R&D culture, TÜBİTAK MAM continues to support the scientists of the future and strengthen the innovation capacity of our country with these events.
