Taking off from the runway at 08:50, KAAN reached an altitude of 8000 feet and reached a speed of 230 knots in this historic flight that lasted 13 minutes. Supported by critical systems developed by TÜBİTAK MAM, KAAN proved Turkey's progress and potential in the defense industry to the whole world.
The important systems to be developed by TÜBİTAK MAM for KAAN, the success story of Turkey's national defense industry, are as follows:
The Life Support System developed by TÜBİTAK MAM will enable fighter pilots to maintain their basic vital activities under conditions requiring high physical endurance.
The Explosion Prevention System will reduce the risk of explosion and fuel boiling in fuel tanks in combat aircraft, taking into account the changing conditions of the aircraft.
The RASEM (Electromagnetic Modelling and Optimization of Radar Absorbing Multilayer Thin Film Surface Coating) software is being implemented to increase the radar invisibility of the National Fighter Aircraft KAAN. This software will be used especially in canopy design and represents an important step that will minimize the possibility of KAAN being detected by enemy radars. RASEM will make a significant contribution to Turkey's defense capabilities by increasing KAAN's security and operational effectiveness.
The HAVSET (Low Visibility Set for Air Duct) project will enable KAAN to gain low visibility with specially designed sets to be placed in the air duct. With the completion of the project, KAAN will become almost undetectable to enemy radars.
The FRESEÇ (Electromagnetic Modeling and Application of Frequency Selective Surfaces) project will provide the electromagnetic design and optimization of the radome with frequency-selective electromagnetic design to further increase KAAN's low visibility on radar.
KAAN's first flight was a reflection of Turkey's great achievements in the defense industry. However, the contributions made by TÜBİTAK MAM through these projects reveal the future potential of the Turkish defense industry. Equipped with these systems, KAAN will make an even greater contribution to Turkey's national security.
