Within the scope of the "Development of Source-Based Noise Simulation Models in Residential Areas (GÜRSİM) Project" carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, General Directorate of Environmental Management and TÜBİTAK MAM, noise maps of 21 provinces are being created. According to the Project Work Plan; "Noise Mapping and Modeling Training" was held at TÜBİTAK MAM between October 15-20, 2018. The training started with the opening speech of Project Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nesimi ÖZKURT and general information about the project was presented. The Project Team consisting of Deniz SARI, Samet Feyyaz HAMAMCI, Melike Neşe TEZEL, Muhammet ERDÖL presented "Application Steps for Preparing Strategic Noise Maps and Reports with Sample Data in a Representative Province".
Representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and a total of 35 people from 16 provincial municipalities participated in the training.
Strategic Noise Maps are the most important tools for identifying areas for mitigation and control measures. Together with the strategic estimation of noise exposure (percentages of level-dependent exposure of the affected population), they also help in the further development of noise policy. It is also important in terms of providing information to the public and decision-makers at local, national and international level. With the results of the Strategic Noise Map, noise problems that may occur in the future can be largely prevented at the planning stage when the noise factor is taken into consideration.
In the EU harmonization process, "Harmonization Studies for Environmental Noise Directive (END) No. 2002/49/EC" and "By-Law on Assessment and Management of Environmental Noise (By-Law on Environmental Noise Assessment and Management (By-Law on Environmental Noise Assessment and Management (By-Law on Environmental Noise Assessment and Management (By-Law on Environmental Noise Assessment and Management (By-Law on Environmental Noise Assessment and Management (By-Law on Environmental Noise Assessment and Management (By-Law on Environmental Noise Assessment and Management (By-Law on Environmental Noise Assessment and Management))" were prepared under the responsibility of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. Within the framework of certain criteria set out in the EGDYY, various institutions and organizations have been obliged to create Strategic Noise Maps.
With this project, a "Noise Simulation Model" is being developed for the settlement centers within the scope. In the impact areas in 21 provinces; for dB(A) levels specified in the EGDYY for day (07-19), evening (19-23) and night (23-07) time periods;
- the size of the area affected by noise,
- number of houses, schools and hospitals,
- Number of people living in dwellings
is calculated.
Also for designated work areas in settlements;
- 5 dB(A) Range Maps
- >55, >65 and >75 dB(A) Maps
- Facade Maps
- Limit Value Maps
- Contour Maps
is being created.
