"Resource Efficiency Training in Chemical Sector" was held on March 06, 2015 in cooperation with Kocaeli Chamber of Industry (KSO) and TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Clean Production Institute.
Representatives of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Kocaeli University, various institutions and organizations and company officials participated in the 1-day training held at the Kocaeli Chamber of Industry Conference Hall.
In the opening speech of the seminar, KSO Quality and Environment Specialist Aynur Hacıfettahoğlu said, "We continue the resource efficiency trainings that we started with the iron and steel sector with the chemical sector today. We would like to thank TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Clean Production Institute and our esteemed professors for their contribution to the training."
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kitiş, Director of TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, made an opening speech and informed the participants about the structure, studies and activities of the institute. In his speech, he emphasized that as the institute, they can carry out joint projects with the public and private sectors and that they are ready for cooperation.
Following the opening speeches, Prof. Dr. Göksel Niyazi Demirer from METU provided information on current developments and approaches to sustainability and resource efficiency, cleaner production conceptual framework, cleaner production implementation methods and approaches, cleaner production audit, chemical sector in Turkey, sample cleaner production project: UNIDO eco-efficiency program, resource efficiency and sustainability studies carried out in the chemical sector, examples of cleaner production practices in the chemical sector. In the afternoon session, practical training on cleaner production was given.
