TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute continues its work at full speed with the first interns and fellows who came within the framework of the Presidential Internship Mobilization TÜBİTAK Intern Researcher Scholarship Program. Students from different universities who were accepted for internship had the opportunity to be a part of the scientific activities carried out at the poles.

Students from the departments of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Marine Transportation and Management Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, Physics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Law are improving themselves by gaining detailed information about scientific studies in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

The students who continue their studies at the Institute are conducting research in various fields, especially in the following areas;

  • Establishment of a polar research data center
  • Polar Cube-SAT satellite studies
  • Development of solar radiation measurement devices
  • Research and development of molecular biology and genetics studies in the Arctic and Antarctic
  • Researching new environmentally friendly technologies
  • Development of software for entering and keeping polar data information
  • Examination of Antarctic international legislation and establishment of current Turkish law polar legislation

In the coming periods, it is aimed to continue working in different fields with new interns.
