Making Strategic Noise Maps And Actıon Plans

Making strategic noise maps and action plans for airports, highways, railways, industry and entertainment facilities in residential areas

Capabilities of Environment and Cleaner Production Institute:

  • Formation of source-based Noise Simulation Models in residential areas
  • Formation of Spatial Noise Databases for Provinces
  • Determination of the number of sensitive buildings (dwellings, schools, hospitals) and the number of people exposed to noise in survey areas
  • Making Strategic Noise Maps for Municipalities
  • Formation of Noise Simulation Models for airports
  • Formation of Spatial Noise Databases for the spheres of influence of airports
  • Determination of hotspots by evaluating noise-affected population and limit exceeding data
  • Formation of noise reduction scenarios for hotspots
  • Through Noise Action Plans, identification of noise problem at regional and national scale, offering solution proposals for settlements with above-limit values, guidance to city growth plans and offering solution proposals for transportation plans

For the first time in Turkey, strategic noise maps of 18 Turkish provinces; which are Adana, Adıyaman, Antalya, Balıkesir, Bolu, Elazığ, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Kayseri, Malatya, Manisa, Mersin, Sakarya, Samsun, Sivas and Trabzon; have been made under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning and with the support of the relevant municipalities. For 41 provinces, inventory backgrounds have been formed for source-based noise modeling purposes; and it is aimed to complete the strategic noise maps of these provinces until the end of 2019. Strategic noise maps of Turkey’s 39 airports have been created. Noise Action Plans have been prepared for 2 provinces (for Mersin and Sivas), and 4 others (for Antalya, Bolu, Kahramanmaraş and Trabzon) are on the way.
