A delegation headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Makaracı, Vice President of Strategy and Technology Development at TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM), visited the Istanbul Tuzla Campus of the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE). During the visit hosted by TSE Machinery and Construction Materials Laboratory Group Head Selahattin Polat and Laboratory Manager Dr. Metehan Çalış, the TÜBİTAK MAM delegation included Prof. Dr. Ülker Beker, Director of the TÜBİTAK MAM Institute of Chemical Technology, Prof. Dr. Metin Usta, Director of the Institute of Materials, Meral Özcan, Industrial Services Unit Manager, and researchers from the Institute of Materials and Chemical Technology.
The TÜBİTAK MAM delegation visited the fire resistance, fire reaction, acoustic and heat-water insulation departments within the TSE Building Materials Fire and Acoustic Laboratory Directorate and was informed about the activities in this laboratory and the applications of the tests were shown.
Within the scope of the visit, an evaluation meeting was also organized regarding the joint activities that can be developed between TUBITAK MAM and TSE. TÜBİTAK MAM Strategy and Technology Development Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Makaracı stated that it would be beneficial for TSE to visit TUBITAK Bursa Test and Analysis Laboratory (BUTAL) for the combustion tests of textile materials. TÜBİTAK MAM Strategy and Technology Development Vice President Assoc. Dr. Murat Makaracı stated that there are important cooperation opportunities especially in the fields of reference materials and test consumables that TSE is dependent on abroad and that the test needs of this laboratory can be met in the materials developed by TUBITAK MAM and the projects carried out.
