Within the scope of the "Project on Creation of Strategic Noise Maps of Airports and Development of Alternative Scenarios for Noise Mitigation", a meeting to identify noise mitigation strategies and scenarios that can be implemented at airports was held at the General Directorate of State Airports Authority on March 22, 2019.

The meeting was attended by authorized personnel from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority, Department of Operations, Department of Air Navigation, General Directorate of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and representatives of TÜBİTAK MAM Environment and Cleaner Production Institute. Institute Director Dr. Selma AYAZ, Lead Researcher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nesimi ÖZKURT and Specialist Researcher Deniz SARI from TUBITAK Marmara Research Center Environment and Cleaner Production Institute participated. Researcher Deniz SARI made a presentation on mitigation scenarios and action plan scopes applied at airports abroad.

Within the scope of the project agreement signed between TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center and the General Directorate of State Airports Authority on September 27, 2018, it is aimed to prepare strategic noise maps and noise action plans for the noise management studies to be carried out within the scope of the Regulation on the Assessment and Management of Environmental Noise (ÇGDYY) for the airports operated by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority.

Noise Management Candidate Areas (NMAAs) will be identified by evaluating the hot spots and noise sensitive areas where the limit values specified in the EGDYY are exceeded and sensitive structures are located for the airports for which strategic noise maps have been prepared. Noise Management Areas will be selected by prioritizing the identified NMAs. Alternative mitigation scenarios and recommendations will be prepared for Noise Management Areas (NMAs). Cost analysis will be performed for the developed mitigation scenarios or solution proposals and noise action plan reports of the relevant airports will be prepared.
